Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce has made it his next priority to find a new captain at St James' Park.
Allardyce has already brought two players into the club - Joey Barton and Mark Viduka - while selling Scott Parker to West Ham and releasing five more out of contract players since he took over last month.
But the £7million sale of Parker has left the Magpies boss on the lookout for a new skipper and that could mean another move into the transfer market.
Referring to the prospect of naming a new captain, he told the club's official website: "I haven't made my mind up yet.
"In fact, I believe good captains are becoming a rare breed now. Natural leaders both on and off the field are not easy to find.
"That's why finding someone to be our next captain over the next few weeks we will spend together will be a priority in my mind.
"And whether that will be someone who is already here or somebody I actually bring in to the club remains to be seen."
Parker and Shay Given both captained the Magpies last season following long-term skipper Alan Shearer's retirement last summer.
