Roeder defends Rossi stance
06 Dec 2006 - 11:58:21
Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has responded angrily to comments made by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's about the Magpies' treatment of Giuseppe Rossi.
Ferguson is keen to bring the teenage striker back to Old Trafford after growing increasingly disappointed by the player's lack of first-team opportunities at St James' Park.
But Roeder has hit back at that criticism, telling The Daily Telegraph: "Everyone's entitled to their opinion and Alex said what he feels he wants to.
"He'll also know, having managed for 20 years, that he would do what he feels is right to do and I'm no different.
"Without doubt, Rossi would have played more in the UEFA Cup had he been available. He's played in the Carling Cup and missed one game due to a family bereavement.
"But he's available again and I'm delighted he is, and he should play some part for us."
