Puncheon Rumour Is Old News

Newcastle United are today being linked with a move for Southampton's in-form winger Jason Puncheon, but ...

... it's nothing new.

Alan Pardew, ex-Southampton manager, has spoken about the player often, and there was a rumour he was going to sign the player 18 months ago.

The Mirror says the Magpies and their Premier League rivals West Ham are keeping an eye on the 26-year-old’s situation, as the Saints dither over offering him a new contract.

But regard it as "old news" tagged onto a player who is looking for a way out of the club.

Would Pardew be interested?

It depends what funds he gets in the summer, and having spent £22m in January, he won't have anywhere near that come May.

And the question is ... can Puncheon speak FRENCH?
