August 6th 2007 saw a new addition to the Newcastle United playing roster. Spanish U21 player and former Valencia and Villareal defender, Jose Enrique joined the Magpies on a five year contract to a fee of £6.3 million. This speedy left back, who is composed on the ball and likes to get forward made his debut against Barnsley which saw Newcastle run out 2 – 0 winners. After a tumultuous time under Sam Allardyce, who was responsible for his signing, Enrique will be looking to cement a spot at the back in the coming months.
