Permit seals Geremi switch

Cameroon wing-back Geremi has completed his move from Chelsea to Newcastle United after being granted a new work permit. The 28-year-old had already agreed a three-year contract with the Magpies after leaving Stamford Bridge on a free transfer. Toon boss Sam Allardyce told the club's official website: "We've signed a player who is a real winner and who has played on the biggest stages for both his clubs and his country. "He's been at Real Madrid and he's been at Chelsea, two of the top clubs in Europe and that tells you he must be a quality player. "It's a great bit of business for us and he's very keen to be successful at Newcastle United, as we all are in the times ahead. "Being able to add Geremi to Mark Viduka, Joey Barton and David Rozehnal has pleased me. "In all cases, we've had competition for these players, but all the hard work we have put into bringing them to Newcastle has paid off."
