Pardew Takes A Swipe At Ashley!
Published : 03 Dec 2012 12:22:03Rss feed
Words cannot explain the frustration Alan Pardew felt when Mike Ashley refused to up the bids for long term targets Mathieu Debuchy and Douglas back in August.
I'm sure the United boss wanted to tell the world "it will cost us" - but (as always) he refused to bite the hand that feeds him.
However, Newcastle's sad plight, speaks for itself - and even a blind man on a golloping horse KNOWS those two players would have helped us stay clear of relegation.
Today Pardew has admitted the club (Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias) is analysing whether or not they might have done more in the summer transfer market.
Or to put it in simple layman's terms - Ashley kept his money in his arse pocket and did not back the Newcastle manager!
The Magpies signed only one senior player, Vurnon Anita, during the closed season - and three from the bargain bin - Romain Amalfitano,Gael Bigirimana and Curtis Good.
However, the demands of European football and a series of injuries and suspensions have hit Pardew’s squad severely in recent weeks, and its depth has been painfully exposed.
In the short-term, the manager is concentrating only on Monday night’s home clash with Wigan and the task of securing a much-needed victory, but with the January transfer window looming large, a plan is being drawn up.
Alan Pardew: “We have been unlucky, but we are in the process of analysing whether we under-cooked it, and that’s what we should do.
“It would be silly not to.
“It’s increased the discussion mode on that.
"We obviously had an idea of where it was going to go, but it probably is going to change before we get there.
“It’s very important just to keep our eye on the ball.”
