J-League side JEF United have been linked with a shock move to try and sign Newcastle United's England striker Michael Owen. JEF United are currently bottom of their domestic league and have recently appointed long-time Liverpool coach Alex Miller as their new manager. Owen, 28, has another year left on his current deal at St James' Park and has been linked with both Manchester United and Everton in recent days. JEF United spokesman, Kentaro Shiga, told Nikkan Sports: "We are considering adding players to our squad when the transfer windows open this summer. "However, we haven't come to the point where we can name the possible candidates, including Michael Owen. "It would be great if we can have a player like Owen with us, as that will increase the attention to our club. "But we have just started under our new manager and are still working to put things together in the new administration."
