    Oba adds to Newcastle woes

    26 Sep 2008 - 07:59:35

Newcastle United could be without Obafemi Martins for at least six weeks after the striker revealed he has been sidelined by a swollen knee.

The 23-year-old Nigerian played the full 90 minutes of Wednesday's 2-1 Carling Cup third round defeat to Tottenham at St James' Park before waking up on Thursday morning with a knee problem.

Martins has already missed four games this season with a series of injury niggles.

"My right knee is very swollen, so much so that I can't contemplate how long I will be out for," he revealed.

"The swelling only started on Thursday morning. I didn't feel anything after the game. I just woke up and saw how terrible and bad it looked.

"I have been told by the doctors here that I could be out for another six weeks, but when they said 'could' you know it's bad."
