O'Neill may move for Owen

Newcastle United striker Michael Owen could be reunited with Emile Heskey after Aston Villa manager refused to rule out the possibility of signing the 29-year-old in the summer.

O'Neill snapped up Heskey from Wigan Athletic on Friday for £3.5million and could move for Owen, who is out of contract at the end of this season.

Owen has enjoyed a successful partnership with Heskey for Liverpool and England in the past and seems certain to be leaving Tyneside at some point this year.

O'Neill said: "I'm not saying that I will move for Owen in the summer - I've not looked at anything at that remote a distance.

"But that's not to say Michael Owen is not a terrific player. Anything is possible. Kaka is a possibility!

"We want to try to compete at this level but what's happening in the future? I have no idea."
