Nolan Plea To His Old Toon Mate!
Newcastle United are still very much in the hunt for the Geordie striker, but there is a serious bid from the Hammers.
Sam Allardyce would be prepared to build a team around Carroll - and that could be the key factor in getting him to the the capital.
After all - Newcastle must be the LAST club the Scousers would want to sell him to - having already handed them £35m for his services!
A source close to Carroll told the Chronicle: “Andy is aware of West Ham’s interest.
“He’s still massive mates with Kevin Nolan and he respects his opinion from a football point of view.
“His first choice if he did leave Liverpool would, of course, be Newcastle. If they can’t come up with the right bid, though, and he is going to be sitting on the bench at Liverpool, then he has to seriously consider West Ham.”
Liverpool will only listen to bids over £20m, which no club has yet matched.
West Ham would have to make Carroll an offer close to £80,000 a week that he is picking up at Liverpool, and smash the £9m club-record fee paid for Savio Nserenko in 2009.
Carroll and Nolan grabbed 37 goals between them in Newcastle’s Championship campaign and opened up the Premier League campaign in 2010-11 with a glut of goals too, before the Geordie was sold to Liverpool for £35m.
