Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has told Wolves that they have no chance of signing Alan O'Brien on loan.
The Championship side's manager Mick McCarthy has been linked with a move for the 21-year-old but Roeder does not want to let any of his players leave St James' Park at the moment.
"I can't afford to let any of our young players move out on loan, even though some of the young lads would benefit from regular games," he told the club's official website.
"We're competing on four fronts this season, and we have a few injuries at the moment.
"It's no secret that we don't have the biggest squad, and I don't feel I can let any of my players leave at this moment in time."
O'Brien, who is currently on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, has made five substitute appearances for United and also spent a brief spell on loan with Carlisle United last season.
