Newcastle want Erik Pieters, admits Tim Krul

Toon target: Erik Pieters Newcastle keeper Tim Krul has admitted the club want to sign his Holland compatriot Erik Pieters. Manager Alan Pardew watched the 22-year-old defender play for PSV Eindhoven in their 3-1 defeat at AZ Alkmaar. And Krul revealed Pardew was poised to move for the left back amid doubts over the future of Jose Enrique. 'We are interested,' Krul told Dutch paper De Telegraaf. 'The coach himself and the assistants have already seen a few matches ofPSV and the question now is whether the clubs can work it out. 'Our current left-back Enrique has a contract that expires, however, he won't sign and is interesting many clubs. 'Erik is my friend since we played together at the World Championships inPeru in 2005. 'From then we have always kept in touch, regularly send text messages and if possible we get together.'
