Newcastle linked with Giuly

Newcastle United have reportedly made their interest known in unsettled Barcelona winger Ludovic Giuly.

Giuly, 30, has hinted he could be tempted to quit the Camp Nou in the summer after starting just eight La Liga games during a frustrating season.

The Frenchman still has 12 months left on his contract but has been linked with a cut-price move to St James' Park.

The former Marseille, Monaco, Fiorentina and Juventus wideman's agent Sebastien Riera hinted at a possible move to the Premier League after claiming: "Ludo is aware of Newcastle's interest."

Barcelona paid Monaco £5million to sign Giuly three years ago.

In his first season in Catalonia, the Lyon-born forward was Barcelona's second highest scorer after finding the back of the net on 11 occasions.

However, in recent seasons he has found first-team opportunities limited.

Giuly has also been mentioned as a possible target for former club Monaco.
