Milner slams Toon tactics and says: You would not be in trouble with Big Sam

James Milner believes his former club Newcastle would not be fighting for their Premier League lives had they kept Sam Allardyce as manager. Current boss Alan Shearer is the fourth person to take the St James' Park helm since Allardyce was sacked in January 2008 and faces a mammoth task to avoid the drop. Milner was at Newcastle under Allardyce but joined Aston Villa soon after he was sacked. He can do his former club a huge favour if his side beat relegation rivals Hull at Villa Park on Monday night. James Milner believes Newcastle would not be fighting for their Premier League lives if Sam Allardyce was still in charge of the club 'If Sam Allardyce had still been at Newcastle, they wouldn't be in the position they are now,' Milner said. 'The way Allardyce came in at Newcastle, he was planning for the long-term. The staff he brought in, he was looking at a bigger picture. 'The plan might have taken three, four, five years. There's always going to be question marks about the way you play football but first and foremost Allardyce's job was to get stability.
