Newcastle United's big-money summer signing Obafemi Martins is confident that he has yet to hit top form, despite having already reached double figures for the Magpies this season.

The 22-year-old Nigerian took time to settle in following his £10million arrival from Internazionale, but his performances have caught the eye in recent weeks and he has now scored eight times in 20 Premiership outings.

However, there is more to come according to Martins, who said: "I am not totally used to the English game yet, but I am only 22 and I believe I will get better and better.

"I have not found the pace of the Premiership a problem, but the physical side of the game is different.

"I didn't have the best of starts for Newcastle, but recently I have been playing well and I'm pleased with how things are going.

"I have scored ten, but I don't have a target and if I keep working hard, goals will come. I would certainly say that the best of me is yet to come."
