Hughton's current Newcastle United deal expires at the end of next season and for the first time on Thursday he indicated that he wants to remain on Tyneside on a long-term basis having steered the club to the brink of promotion to the Premier League. "At the moment we've got the season to complete," said Hughton. I've got a year left on my contract and I'm sure that I'll be speaking with the owners and (managing director) Derek Llambias in the summer and we'll see then, but it's certainly for me not a big concern. "I can probably only speak for the period of time I've been here, the two years I've been here. Irrespective of the fact that the end of last season was a difficult time with getting relegated, I've thoroughly enjoyed the period of time I've been here. "Would I like to stay for a good period of time? Yes, it's a wonderful club, I've enjoyed the association I've had with this club and so far it's been a good season for us. This is a club I would like to stay at. Hughton's Championship pacesetters could clinch promotion at Peterborough on Saturday but promotion fever has meant he has been unable to satisfy demand for tickets for family and friends. "I'll probably have more here on Monday (when Sheffield United visit St James' Park) than on Saturday because of the ticketing situation," Hughton added. "I've been trying to get a few more tickets and have been unable to. It just goes to show you how difficult it is, there's no favours at this club. With Andy Carroll struggling with injury, Hughton is expected to hand Shola Ameobi a starting berth against Peterborough following his goal-scoring heroics in the 2-0 win over third-placed Nottingham Forest. "We certainly haven't ruled him (Carroll) out but he's probably got a better chance of being involved on Monday," Hughton said. "If he's not available to play he won't travel, no. If he has a chance then he will travel. "There's a stronger possibility of him being involved on Monday. It's great to have someone like Shola with his quality available to call on. I'm sure if he hadn't had his injury problems this season then he would have scored even more goals at this level. "At the moment the feel I've got is the same feel I've always got we had a good training session which was competitive. I feel a confidence on the back of a good win on Monday. "After a win there's always a feel-good factor for one or two days then it's back to preparation for the next game and that's what I see from the players, they all want to be involved."
