Newcastle United will wait on scans before deciding when Antoine Sibierski can resume training after the makeshift striker suffered a groin injury in the goalless draw with Chelsea.
The veteran Frenchman limped off the St James' Park pitch with ten minutes remaining of Sunday's stalemate and faces an anxious wait to discover when he can resume training.
Sibierski has kick-started his career since signing for the Magpies on a free transfer from Manchester City last summer.
The 32-year-old has chipped in with nine goals this season after being employed as a makeshift striker due to the array of injuries to Newcastle strikers.
Meanwhile, Sibierski has revealed the delight in the St James' dressing room after the Magpies ended an indifferent spell with a hard-fought point against a side challenging for the Premiership title.
"We felt very happy after the game. We were not frustrated, as we had been the last few weeks after Charlton, Manchester City and Portsmouth," said the Frenchman.
"We needed a performance like that against Chelsea. We did it and we are happy, even though we didn't win.
"I think we could have won. We could have done better with the chances we had.
"But it is a good point for us and a bad point for Chelsea."
