Magpies set sights on Nolan
30 Jan 2009 - 07:57:07
Newcastle United are reported to have agreed a fee with Bolton Wanderers for captain Kevin Nolan.
Nolan, 26, has made over 300 appearances for the Trotters during nine seasons in the first team at the Reebok Stadium.
However, reports suggest that Wanderers are willing to listen to offer for the former England Under-21 international and their current current club captain.
Newcastle are desperate to bolster their injury-ravaged squad and view Nolan as the ideal replacement for Joey Barton.
Barton limped out of the midweek defeat at Manchester City with a fresh metatarsal injury which will keep him out of action for up to ten weeks.
The Magpies have previously been linked with Nolan during former Bolton boss Sam Allardyce's brief reign at St James' Park last season.
Meanwhile, current Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear claims he is unsure whether a potential move for Toulouse right-back Albin Ebondo will go through.
"We're still tied up in negotiations," he claimed.
"The original price was £2.5million but they moved the goalposts and it's now £3million.
"We are still out in France negotiating. It's been two weeks now, so we have to wait and see."
