Newcastle United will receive more compensation from the Football Association following Michael Owen's latest injury picked up on international duty.
The Magpies received a reported £6million from the FA following the knee ligament injury Owen suffered during the 2006 World Cup.
The 27-year-old striker was restricted to just a handful of appearances towards the end of last season following a ten-month injury lay-off.
During that time, former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd threatened to take legal action against the FA in a bid to recover his club's lost wages before a settlement was eventually reached.
And now following Owen's latest injury - a thigh problem picked up in the 1-0 friendly victory over Austria on Friday - an FA spokesmen has revealed the Magpies will again receive compensation.
According to reports, Newcastle will receive up to £100,000 per week while Owen is unfit for club duty.
"The FA takes out policies to cover for injuries sustained on international duty," confirmed an FA spokesman.
"This figure can be up to £100,000 a week but it is not the FA who pay this money out, it is our insurers, if they deem it is fit to do so."
