Magpies secure Rozehnal
30 Jun 2007 - 10:01:36
Newcastle United have completed the signing of Czech Republic international defender David Rozehnal from Paris St Germain for an initial fee of £2.9million.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Magpies, becoming the third new signing by manager Sam Allardyce since he took charge at St James' Park.
Allardyce has already brought in Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton and Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka to bolster the United squad.
Rozehnal said of his move: "I want to prove myself and get into the starting line-up. I am looking forward to the start of the season.
"It will be something new, a different and more quality competition and the stadiums will be full of fans - that will be wonderful."
Allardyce is still busy trying to tie up a number of other deals, as he closes in on Barcelona pair Edmilson and Eidur Gudjohnsen. Chelsea utility man Geremi is another man in Allardyce's sights.
