Magpies let five leave
16 May 2007 - 12:18:14
Newcastle United have released Titus Bramble, Craig Moore, Pavel Srnicek and Olivier Bernard while opting not to make Oguchi Onyewu's loan move to St James' Park permanent.
The news comes in the wake of the club's disappointing campaign which culminated in boss Glenn Roeder being axed and a finishing position of 13th, only five points above the relegation zone, being achieved.
Bramble moved to the Magpies from Ipswich Town five years ago in a £5million deal and made 105 Premiership appearances for the club.
However, the 25-year-old has come under criticism, particularly this term, for a string of below-par displays.
Former Australia international Moore moved to United two years ago from Borussia Monchengladbach. The 31-year-old started 29 games for the club.
USA international Onyewu was signed by Roeder on a loan arrangement from Standard Liege in January but failed to impress in his 11 appearances for the Magpies.
Srnicek and Bernard both returned to Tyneside during the season for second spells with the club but failed to establish themselves in the first team.
