Keegan drops Senderos hint

Kevin Keegan has hinted that he would like to sign Philippe Senderos following reports linking the Arsenal defender with a move to Newcastle United.

Earlier on Friday, the father of the Switzerland international claimed his son was set for talks with both the Magpies and Italian giants AC Milan over a potential transfer.

Keegan refused to confirm that he had made an approach for Senderos, but has suggested a move for the 23-year-old centre-half could be in the pipeline.

He said: "The lad has got two tremendous clubs to pick from, then if his dad is right.

"We are looking for three more players to come in before the deadline, but they have got to be the right players.

"We need definitely one more defender, there's no doubt about that.

"We are looking for a defender, a midfielder and possibly one more forward."

Meanwhile, Keegan also confirmed that Michael Owen will return from his latest injury lay-off in time to be included in the squad to face Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The England striker will be on the bench for the first game of the season at St James' Park after shaking off a calf strain.
