It's Not Sexism - Woman Are Rubbish At Football!
Sexism, especially sexism in sport, has been at the top of the news agenda pretty solidly since the Olympics last summer.
"Isn't it terrible?" everybody says, wagging their fingers.
Something ought to be done, they nod.
"Get rid of John Inverdale!" comes the cry.
There was some hope that London 2012 had been a turning point, the success of Britain's women forcing progress where common sense and decency had struggled.
Yet the women's European Championship finals kicked off in Sweden and what is there to watch? It's like watching a schoolyard kick about!
A 12-team competition that cannot be defended.
The BBC are showing games live, as are Eurosport, but if this is the best in Europe ... let the buggers get on with it ... behind closed doors.
SKY TV said "the demand isn't there to justify the effort of showing it." ... and I would agree.
England started out with a defeat to Spain, a late goal that summed up everything in three seconds of football.
A ball was floated over - a gift for anyone who can CATCH a ball - but the England keeper went to claim it with her hands too far apart (I kid you not!) ... the ball hit her in the face and bounced into the net.
Then we have Mackem Micky Gray in the studio trying to hide his laughter and defend it.
When it comes to football – women don't count.
England suffered a miserable conclusion to their UEFA Women's Championship campaign as France ran out comprehensive winners at the Linkoping Arena.
Needing a win to guarantee their progression from Group C, England were up against it when Eugenie Le Sommer fired France ahead in the 10th minute.
And it was poor viewing, believe me.
Two more goals put France out of sight and into the quarter-finals, leaving England to head home from Sweden early.
Women's tennis is a joy to watch ... but listen girls ... leave football to those who do it best.
