Hughton waits on Taylor scan

Newcastle United midfielder Ryan Taylor will have a scan to determine the extend of the foot injury he sustained before Monday's 1-0 win at Preston North End.

The former Wigan Athletic star had to leave Deepdale on crutches after picking up an injury during the warm-up.

However, boss Chris Hughton hopes Taylor is not set for a lenghty lay-off, saying: "We'll see, he'll be assessed. Hopefully it's not too serious."

Hughton is also hopeful that Danny Simpson will be able to feature in Saturday's game against Swansea City, adding: "Taking him off was a precaution and we hope he's back soon."
