Hughton talks up Vuckic role

Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton has hinted that Slovenian teenager Haris Vuckic will be a first-team squad regular next season when the Magpies return to the Premier League.

The 17-year-old, who has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United in recent times, made four appearances for United in the campaign just ended, including one as a substitute in the 1-0 win at QPR on the final day of the season.

Hughton told the Chronicle: "What I was able to do was move things round a bit. I was able to give Vuckic an outing as well.

"I did want to wait until we were winning the game because it was important that we won it.

"But it was nice to give him the opportunity and we'll be seeing a bit more of him next season."
