Hughton ignores speculation

Newcastle caretaker boss Chris Hughton has revealed he does not worry about speculation surrounding the club. The Toon boss has spent the last three months involved with claims and counter-claims about the future of the Magpies, particularly regarding his role as temporary manager. Rumours on Tyneside are suggesting businessman Barry Moat is ready to push home his interest in the club and install Alan Shearer in the hot-seat, but Hughton reveals he pays no interest in speculation for the sake of his sanity. "If I worried about things like that I would drive myself mad," he told the Newcastle Chronicle. "The new speculation is nothing I have been told about by anyone at the club, so I am just getting on with my job. "I don't know what would happen if there was a change of ownership. The way for me to deal with it is to just get on with my job." Hughton has guided the team to the top of the Championship table so far this season after the Toon Army's relegation from the Premier League last term. There are reportedly a number of offers on the table for the Magpies, but Moat's is understood to be somewhat less than the £100million that current owner Mike Ashley is looking for.
