Hughton Admits - 'It Did Try And Sign Sol Last Season'

Chris Hughton is very relieved to have signed Campbell, having attempted to land him last season after he left League Two club Notts County following a brief spell at Meadow Lane. Chris Hughton: "I have known Sol since he was a lad at Tottenham, and am fully aware of what he has to offer. "I did try and get him last season, but Arsenal beat us to it. "That is experience, quality, calm assurance and leadership. He's a dedicated professional, a terrific addition to the squad, and I look forward to working with him again." Campbell – who married North East-born Fiona Barratt earlier this month – has played 496 career games in the Premier League, putting him fourth in the division's all-time appearances list
