Chris Hughton has revealed that Hatem Ben Arfa is in good spirits even though he is currently recovering from the broken leg he suffered earlier this month.
The 23-year-old, who is on a season-long loan switch at St James' Park from Marseille, was playing only his fourth game for the Magpies when he suffered a double fracture following a challenge by Manchester City's Netherlands international Nigel de Jong.
It remains unclear how long the Frenchman will be sidelined for, but Hughton is pleased with the player's attitude.
He told Sky Sports News: "It's obviously a very difficult time for him. He's a young man that's going through an injury, and a length of injury that he hasn't had before.
"But he's in good spirits and all his thoughts are on his rehabilitation and getting back as fit as he can, as quickly as he can."
Meanwhile, Newcastle have written to the Football Association asking that action be taken against De Jong for the tackle, with Hughton adding: "It's an ongoing matter that's being dealt with.
"Our job here is to get on with the business in hand. It's something we have to put behind us and look forward to a very tough game (against Wigan Athletic) at the weekend."
