    Gutierrez close to comeback

    15 Oct 2008 - 15:44:08

Winger Jonas Gutierrez claims he has no regrets about joining Newcastle United after confirming he is close to returning to action.

The Argentina international has missed the Magpies' last five games after breaking his collarbone while taking part in a South American World Cup qualifier last month.

Gutierrez could make his comeback in Monday's Premier League clash with Manchester City, but claims the turbulent start to life at St James' Park has not left him considering whether he was right to move to England.

The 25-year-old was brought to Tyneside during Kevin Keegan's time as manager and before the crisis-torn club was put up for sale.

"It was one of my dreams when I came to Europe, to play in England and the Premier League and it is beautiful for me to play here and I want to be back and playing soon," he told the club's official website.

"I do not regret moving here to Newcastle at all.

"It was a surprise what happened with Kevin Keegan and I was sad to see him go. The results were going well so it was surprise that the manager left but we are players and we must play well for Joe (Kinnear) now.

"I like Joe, he is a good manager and I think he will help us to get out of the bottom three.

"We should not be there because we are a better team than that. We shouldn't think about the past, we have to think about the future and getting up the Premier League table.

"I have only thought about football since I have been here. I don't really understand what has happened at the club and it is difficult to talk about it.

"I prefer to only think about the football and nothing more, because I do not know about the reasons for the changes."
