Given plays down Spurs link

Goalkeeper Shay Given insists he is happy at Newcastle United and has dismissed reports of a potential move to Tottenham. The long-serving Republic of Ireland international is reported to be a target for Spurs, with newly-installed manager Harry Redknapp keen to find a replacement for error-prone current keeper Heurelho Gomes. Portsmouth's current England number one David James has also been linked with a January move to White Hart Lane. But despite speculation linking him with a move away from Tyneside, Given claims he is happy to remain at St James' Park. Speaking about Spurs, he said: "They have spent money on a goalkeeper already so I don't think they are going to spend any more. "I'm sure that when Heurelho Gomes gets his confidence back he'll be a very, very good goalkeeper again. "I wouldn't want to leave Newcastle anyway. I'm very happy where I'm at."
