Former Toon Boss Wants Scotland Job!
Published : 07 Nov 2012 13:51:18
There has been talk of Harry Redknapp getting the Scotland manager's job ... but one Jock hero (and former Toon boss) has put his hat into the ring.
Kenny Dalglish wants to become the next Scotland manager.
The country’s most capped player and record goalscorer wants to succeed Craig Levein as national boss and aim for the Euro 2016 Finals in France.
Dalglish, who left Liverpool in the summer, would be keen to return to the game and now wants the chance to revive the flagging fortunes of his homeland.
Dalglish is sure to feature high amongst the Tartan Army’s wanted list, along with early favourite Gordon Strachan, who is interested in the post.
Former Scotland captain Gary McAllister and striker Joe Jordan are also in the betting along with former national bosses Walter Smith and Alex McLeish, although their return is likely to be met with hostility from sections of the Tartan Army.
Dalglish played for Scotland 102 times and is the record goalscorer with 30 goals, alongside Denis Law.
The 61-year-old has won English titles as manager of Liverpool and Blackburn and has also had spells in charge of Celtic and Newcastle.
Dalglish had been working as Liverpool’s head of academy latterly but was then given a second stint in the hot seat, replacing Roy Hodgson.
