Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Bolton Wanderers defender Abdoulaye Faye is close to joining the Magpies.
The Senegal international has been linked with a move to St James' Park throughout the summer and Allardyce has revealed a deal has been struck between the two clubs.
Allardyce took Faye to Bolton two years ago when he was in charge at the Reebok Stadium in a £750,000 deal from Lens.
"Abdoulaye is in Newcastle for a medical and we expect that deal to go through in the next 24 hours," Allardyce told the club's official website.
"Once that is done I hope to maybe add one more player before Friday night."
Faye has not featured for Bolton since the opening day 3-1 defeat at home to Newcastle.
The 28-year-old has made 73 appearances in all competitions for the Trotters.
