Newcastle United winger Damien Duff has revealed his disappointment after seeing his comeback from injury for the reserves fall foul of the weather.
The Republic of Ireland international was scheduled to make his first appearance in seven months in a second-string outing against Manchester United at Northwich Victoria's Victoria Ground on Thursday.
However, heavy rain forced the match to be postponed just before kick-off and left Duff still seeking his first taste of action since suffering a serious foot injury in April.
The 28-year-old wideman has started just 20 Premier League games for the Magpies since arriving from Chelsea in July 2006.
"It was disappointing to see the game called off," Duff told the club's official website.
"I was looking forward to getting a run out because it's been so long.
"I can't wait to get back out there with the lads. It's been a frustrating seven months.
"But I'm still looking forward to coming back and hopefully I'll get a practice match under my belt soon."
