Double woe for Roeder
22 Nov 2006 - 16:18:55
Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has confirmed that Craig Moore and Damien Duff face several weeks on the sidelines after picking up injuries in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Arsenal.
Moore sustained a hamstring strain and Duff a knee injury to add to Roeder's problems in the build-up to Thursday's UEFA Cup clash against Celta Vigo.
Roeder told the club's official website: "They're definitely going to be out for a few weeks, that's for sure. We had a terrific result at Arsenal on Saturday, but the down side was losing those two for what could be up to a month.
"That's the initial report, though we'll have to see what the report from the specialist says now.
"It's not just Craig being out that causes us a problem at the back, as Baba (Celestine Babayaro) isn't fit and Stephen Carr is touch and go.
"With Carrsy, we have to have an eye on Sunday's game as well. If I think it's too much of a risk on Thursday for him, and playing him against Celta Vigo would put him at risk of missing Portsmouth on Sunday, then he won't figure."
Emre could come into contention for Thursday's match after being suspended for Saturday's draw at the Emirates Stadium.
