Dickov: Gregan is free to leave

Oldham boss Paul Dickov has confirmed he will not stand in club captain Sean Gregan's way if he wants to leave the club. The 36-year-old defender, who missed the start of the season due to a knee injury, has been unable to force his way back into the Latics side, making just one substitute appearance this campaign. Dickov believes Gregan, who joined in 2007 from Leeds, will find it difficult to gain a first-team place if he remains at Boundary Park, but if he does stay he will still be captain. He told BBC Sport: "He's a senior pro and I'm not going to stop him going if he wants to leave. I've been there myself the last couple of years and you want to play football and if it's not happening at one place you want to play somewhere else. "Sean wants to play and he's looking at the team at the minute and he's seeing Jean-Yves (Mvoto), Reuben (Hazell) and Jason (Jarrett) are ahead of him.He added: "If Sean stays he will be club captain; he's a good captain and he's good to have around the place."
