Coloccini could join Sevilla

Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini is being linked with a summer switch to Sevilla.

The 27-year-old Argentina international endured a dismal campaign with the Magpies and seemed incapable of adapting to life in the Premier League.

Coloccini featured in 37 matches for the club as they suffered relegation to the Championship following his £10million transfer from Deportivo La Coruna last summer.

Newcastle are desperate to get Coloccini off their wage bill and are hoping Sevilla step up their interest in the defender.

The player's representative, Marcelo Lombillo, was quoted in Marca as saying: "Fabricio was disappointed with the decline in Newcastle.

"We are considering several offers, all of them from Europe. One of the options on the table is a club from southern Spain."

That club is thought to be Sevilla who are believed to be ready to offer Newcastle £5million for Coloccini.
