Carroll relishing massive week
27 Oct 2010 - 07:10:06
Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll is eagerly awaiting the next week of action that will see the side take in games against Arsenal and fierce rivals Sunderland.
The Magpies take on the Gunners in the Carling Cup on Wednesday before facing an acid test with the Black Cats on Sunday.
Carroll, who has recently penned a new five-year deal with the St James' Park outfit, can't wait to take on Steve Bruce's men in the highly-charged Tyne-Wear derby, insisting he will do all he can to lead his hometown club to the local bragging rights.
"The next two games against Arsenal and Sunderland will be tough, it is a tough period," he admitted.
"Everybody, though, is looking forward to it. You look forward to every week, especially the week of the derby against Sunderland.
"I am from here and have always wanted to be here. Knowing I am going to be here is a great feeling for the next five years. I just need to keep working hard.
"It is where I have been brought up, this is my team and where I am from, without a doubt."
