Bevan hints at Keegan return

11 Oct 2008 - 12:49:36

Reports suggesting Kevin Keegan would be prepared to return to Newcastle United for a third spell as manager have intensified.

The former England boss left St James' Park last month after revealing that he could no longer work under the management set-up created by Magpies owner Mike Ashley.

Ashley has since put the club up for sale and several interested parties have hinted that they would re-appoint Keegan as manager.

League Managers' Association chief executive Richard Bevan has now confirmed that Keegan would be willing to return to Tyneside.

He told The Sun: "Numerous people, including a group of Newcastle supporters, have contacted Kevin and myself saying 'would he be interested in coming back?'.

"Kevin didn't want to leave. He has a great passion for the club. But the structure has to be right. He doesn't want to go through that again.

"Kevin can't make any decision until the club has been sold."

Keegan is a legend within St. James park, as with many other clubs, but his passion for newcastle is unmatched by any other manager... he has the quality as a manager to control a team of the top level, and i could personally put him up against sir alex ferguson, because i believe if keegan can prove himself, and work well with the players, newcastle can become a top team once again....Just give him a chance, And, with the club being sold, i cant wait to see what new things come to newcastle, should be exciting, maybe like the old days with alan shearer. Best of luck to Keegan, and to the rest of the newcastle football club.

Having just experienced for the first time the the 'passion' the fans expressed at the recent home game against Blackburn the club needs a 'Keegan', a manager with a 'heart' for this fantastic football club which has given so much enjoyment to all ages and income levels around the world.Thank you again we will remember for a long time the game,We send our best wishes to you,and with 'optimistic determination' and common sense the future of the club will be back on 'top' where it belongs
