Ashley Waits For Fans Backlash!
Alan Pardew has thanked Newcastle United's fans for bottling their anger over the sale of Andy Carroll ... but he could be jumping the gun. The 5,000 fans backed Pardew’s side at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, but the fans at St James' Park will be watching to see if Mike Ashley shows his face. Derek Llambias has already blasted Toon legend Alan Shearer by saying the former Newcastlev skipper should keep his nose out of club affairs ... and it won't take much to have the fans voice an opinion on recent events/ Many angry at the loss of Carroll – and the lack of a incoming replacement - and another disappointing performance like the one at Fulham on Wednesday could turn the tide. Alan Pardew: “The fans helped us – their reaction was great, and I want to thank them publicly. “It has been a tough couple of days for the whole squad. We didn’t want to lose someone of Carroll’s stature, but it happened, and we have to get on with it. “The fans and the team stuck together, and we just came unstuck in terms of the result. “It’s a difficult game, but Cheik’s back, and that’s a big bonus, as he’s such an important player,” added Pardew, who won’t have anyone back from injury.”
