Alan Pardew has warned Manchester City "I'm angry!"
Pardew has warned City to expect an “angry” display from his Newcastle side in the League Cup fourth-round tie tonight.
Pardew’s Magpies were beaten 2-1 by the Mackems at the weekend as the Black Cats sealed their first win of the new season.
Not just their first win of the campaign, but only their third win in 26 games ... with two against Pardew!Alan Pardew's new image
Alan Pardew: “There is a bit of anger in me that we did not win the Sunderland game.
“A couple of silly mistakes cost us, that’s what I was angry about. Not the attitude of the players or their application, but it is about concentration and professionalism.
“I want to take that anger into Man City and hope my players do too, but in the right manner because we need to find the right solution to win the game.
“We need to have that extra bit of aggression in our play.”
The new look "I'm hard me" Newcastle United manager is understood to have torn into some of his players at the Stadium of Shite after United lost their second Tyne-Wear derby in a row.
A dressing room inquest is believed to have swiftly followed the 2-1 loss on Wearside – after some players left the travelling Toon Army disappointed by departing the field quickly without acknowledging the fans.
And during the post mortem, which took place just before Pardew’s Press conference in which he was unable to take questions from the local media, the United boss questioned why some of his troops weren’t following instructions to get crosses into the box for Loic Remy and substitutes Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse.
Apart from Mathieu Debuchy’s equaliser, United’s only real threat came from long-range efforts.
