Heskey injury blow for Jets
Former England international Emile Heskey was Thursday ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury, dealing a big blow to his Australian club Newcastle Jets.
The striker, 35, is the A-League team's marquee player but will miss the first three games of the season, which kicks off next month.
The club said he had suffered a "medial ligament strain in his left knee" during a pre-season trial match against Melbourne Victory.
Heskey, who scored nine goals in 23 appearances in his debut season last year, has previously played for Liverpool, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Leicester City.
