Alan Shearer has confirmed that he will sign a new one-year extension to his current
Newcastle United deal before the weekend.
The 33-year-old's contract runs until the end of the current campaign so the signs are that he will end his career at St James' Park in May 2005.
"I haven't signed it yet, but it's all been agreed and I hope and am confident that we can get it done before Saturday's game, before the weekend," said Shearer.
"Hopefully it will be signed on Friday before we head off. It's all been agreed."
Shearer moved to Newcastle from Blackburn Rovers just over seven years ago in a £15million deal.
He has gone on to score 112 goals in just over 200 Premiership appearances for the club.
