NEWCASTLE UNITED'S youngsters failed to reach the sixth round of the FA Youth Cup for the second year in a row last night.[LNB] The Magpies' Under-18s succumbed to Manchester United's constant drive for a winner which eventually arrived courtesy of striker Ravel Morrison in the 64th minute.[LNB] Newcastle failed to clear competently and Morrison turned to his left before finding the roof of the net with a clinical finish on a night when something special was needed to beat goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.[LNB] Despite plenty of effort and purpose before that opener, Newcastle found themselves lucky to escape with just a 1-0 defeat by the final whistle.[LNB] Joe Joyce's men had plenty to deal with, with the likes of Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole impressive for the Red Devils, but they did go close on a couple of occasions with Dan Taylor's drive at goal the closest they came.[LNB] MANCHESTER UNITED: Johnstone; Keane, Thorpe, Fornasier, Blackett; Cole, Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Lingard; van Velzen, Morrison. Subs (not used): Jacob, Massacci, Lawrence, McGinty, Barmby.[LNB] NEWCASTLE UNITED: Alnwick; Nicholson, Streete, Storey, Riley; Nzuzi, Sayer (Miele 69), Hoganson; Spear (Maddison 57), Taylor, Campbell (McGorrigan 46) Subs (not used): Robinson, Toland.[LNB]
