Xisco may be returning to Spain

Newcastle misfit Xisco could be heading back to Spain to join Deportivo la Coruna on loan, Press Association Sport understands. The 24-year-old is due to have a medical, although the detail of the deal is yet to be finalised. Xisco joined the Magpies from Deportivo in a £5.7million switch at the end of the 2008 summer transfer window, much to the annoyance of then manager Kevin Keegan. He has since made just 11 appearances for the club and none since two brief cameos as a substitute in August last year. Xisco, who has one goal to his name in a black and white shirt, spent last season on loan in his native country with Racing Santander. Middlesbrough had hoped to persuade him to make the short trip down the A19 for the rest of the npower Championship campaign, but they were willing to pay only a portion of his wages, which are reportedly in excess of £50,000 a week.
