Xisco loaned again

Newcastle have confirmed that misfit striker Xisco has re-joined Deportivo la Coruna on a season-long loan deal.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Magpies from Deportivo during the summer of 2008, spent the second half of last season on loan with his former club, but could not prevent them from being relegated from La Liga.

Xisco, whose arrival proved one of the main factors in Kevin Keegan's departure as manager at St James' Park, scored on his debut against Hull, but has made just 11 senior appearances for the club since and has also had a spell on loan at Racing Santander.

His departure will further reduce Newcastle's wage bill as manager Alan Pardew attempts to capture his remaining summer transfer targets.

A left-back remains high on his list of priorities with Jose Enrique completing his switch to Liverpool, although one of the men in his sights, PSV Eindhoven's Erik Pieters, has revealed nothing is imminent in his case following his withdrawal from the Holland squad on Monday after the death of his grandmother.

Pieters told AD Sportwereld: "I am not focused on football right now, only my family counts.

"Moreover, there must first be serious discussions with Newcastle and PSV must be willing to let me go."
