Would Williamson Have Caught Walcott?
We all saw Nicklas Bendtner return from an offside position and grab Mike Williamson. Would the Toon stopper have caught Theo Walcott? Chris Hughton: “There was most definitely an obstruction against Mike Williamson. “And at 2-0 down it’s going to be very difficult against the quality they’ve got. “It was a straight obstruction. As Walcott was running through, if you look, Bendnter blocks him and stops him making an attempt to get the ball. “It’s something that everyone can see if they look. Then at 2-0 it’s an uphill battle. “It’s disappointing because with the endeavour we showed we didn’t deserve 4-0. I’m disappointed for the team that was picked on the night. “We made fundamental mistakes that made it difficult to win a football match. “We pushed and had opportunities ourselves. But to concede one minute before half-time shows naivety on our part.”
