World Cup Snub For Toon Star?

23 February 2010 18:15
Despite Diego Maradona refusing to close the door on Fabricio Coloccini's World Cup chances, it looks as though the Toon defender will NOT be going to South Africa in the summer. Maradona used largely Argentina-based squads for the recent friendlies against Costa Rica and Jamaica, but he has selected a mainly European party for next month’s friendly in Germany. Jonás Gutiérrez is in the 20 man squad for Munich, but Coloccini has again been overlooked. Maradona: “All the players are being tested. “The ones who are not in this (squad) list have the same opportunities. “I have already phoned the 50% of the players who will play the World Cup.” The Germany game is Argentina’s last of the season. They then play two Buenos Aires games against Israel and Canada in late May before their opening World Cup match against North Korea. Seventeen of the latest 20-man squad are based in Europe.
