Workington Hope To Play Toon Stars
Workington boss Darren Edmondson has announced a pre-season match against North East giants Newcastle. But he hopes the Magpies send the superstars ... rather than the kids. What Newcastle United team will turn up at Borough Park when they take on Workington Reds this summer is unknown, but we expect Chris Hughton will send the youth team. Darren Edmondson: “It will be an exciting day for the lads. We have a few Newcastle fans in the squad so it will be great for them to play against them. “I don’t know what kind of team they are likely to bring but I can’t imagine it will be a full strength squad. “We might have a first-team name or two but it is more likely that the lads trying to break into their team will get a run out.” No date has been set as yet.
