Wise out of Newcastle's door as Shearer brings in his new coaching team

Alan Shearer will today present Newcastle with the £3million coaching team that he believes will keep the ailing club in the Barclays Premier League. The former Newcastle and England centre forward will be officially unveiled as the club's manager until the end of the season at a press conference this afternoon after agreeing a package with owner Mike Ashley that will pay him £1m in wages and another £1m if he can save Toon from relegation over the next eight games. Shearer, 38, will bring in former Southampton team-mate Iain Dowie and the relatively unknown former Newcastle player Paul Ferris. Both will earn around £300,000 with further cash set aside for the likely arrival of Shearer's ally Rob Lee and, possibly, goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers. Last night it was announced Dennis Wise had left the club after being summoned to a meeting, while Shearer's full-time predecessor Joe Kinnear is likely to learn that a plea to be retained in an advisory capacity has been rejected. Caretaker coaches Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood are unlikely to stay on.
