Wise: Don’t blame me

DENNIS Wise has broken his silence on his time at Newcastle United, and claimed he is not to blame for the crisis that has engulfed St James Park in the last 12 months.[LNB] Wise left his position as executive director (football) at the start of the year, having become public enemy No 1 on Tyneside following an unsuccessful spell as owner Mike Ashleys right-hand man.[LNB] Many Newcastle supporters blame him for last seasons relegation, but the former Chelsea and Wimbledon midfielder claims he has become an easy scapegoat for some much wider ills.[LNB] You are paid to do a job and you do the best you can,[LNB] said Wise. Youre always going to get stick for everything you do. We dealt with it and got on with it. People like to blame me for most things anyway.[LNB] There are plenty of other people to take a bit of the stick. I dont want to go into it to be honest. Its important to keep some dignity and not shout off. There are a few other people that need to look at the situation as well.[LNB] Wise has been attending the ongoing Premier League tribunal that is ruling over Kevin Keegans constructive dismissal claim against the Magpies.[LNB] Keegan claims his position became untenable when Wise assumed control over the clubs transfer policy in the final days of last summers transfer window.[LNB] The system didnt work and its as simple as that,[LNB] Wise added. It could work.[LNB] It works abroad, it could here. I have spoken to him (Ashley) about a few weeks ago, there is no malice there[LNB]
